Replacing R22 Coolant Systems? We’re On Hand

With the widespread success of David Attenborough’s documentaries plus a growing campaign by governments and charities, climate change is something that’s on everyone’s minds. So, if you have an air conditioning system which uses a coolant called R22 then now’s the time to change it.

Air Conditioning: Effective, Efficient And ApprovedR22 depletes the ozone layer, so the production or the stockpiling of it was made illegal in the UK in 2010. And in 2015, it became illegal to use it – so if you are maintaining a system which uses R22, you’ll need to act fast to change that.

There are some alternatives on the market. R410, for example, is useful because it’s relatively cheap compared to other options, and it’s also less warmth-retaining than some coolants. That means your compressor is less likely to overheat!

R32 is often touted as a more sustainable option because of features like excellent efficiency, extended pipe runs and cost-effectiveness. It will fit the plans of those clients who are looking to institute an F-Gas phase down, too.

By choosing the right coolant for your needs, you’ll be able to save yourself a headache in the long run. The CSM team is happy to help you find the refrigerant which works best for you and your building.

Air Conditioning Installations Completed

Here we detail some of the recent air conditioning projects we have undertaken:

1 Residential Air Conditioning, Phillimore Gardens, Kensington, London

Here, as part of a larger MEP project we provided air conditioning to the bedrooms and the main family room. For this project we selected a Daikin VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) system.

An ambient noise study had been conducted in the vicinity and to contribute too the study’s aims, we incorporated acoustic dampening enclosures for noise reduction.

2 Residential Air Conditioning, Sultan House, Bermondsey London

This project required four additional apartments to be added to an existing block and we were originally contracted to provide plumbing, heating and electrical services. Whilst on site we were asked to include air conditioning to the master bedrooms for 2 of the apartments including the penthouse.

For this requirement we selected standard split systems with slimline recessed cassettes. These cassettes were chosen as we needed to install the system within the structural constraints of the building.

3 Office Air Conditioning, London Underground, Ilford Depot

For the Ilford depot of London Underground CSM installed a wall mounted split air conditioning unit for the security office.

We supplied a Mitsubishi Electric heavy industries system, comprising of two wall mounted units complete with associated electrical power supply. The system has a remote control facility via mobile phone.

4. Commercial Air Conditioning, Bloodline Tattoo Salon

Here we supplied a Mitsubishi Electric heavy industries system, comprising of two wall mounted units complete with associated electrical power supply. The system was provided with a remote control facility via mobile phone.
